The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs specimen collection on patients of all ages served by the hospital. -In addition, he or she also uses the laboratory information system to document specimen collection information, order testing, and determine medical necessity...JOB SUMMARY -(overview of job): The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs specimen collection on patients of all ages served by the hospital. - In addition, he or she also uses the laboratory information system to document specimen collection information, order testing, and determine medical necessity. - The Phlebotomist may also transport specimens to testing areas and assess samples for appropriate labeling and acceptability. - The Phlebotomist will provide detailed and complete collection instructions to patient customers for specimens to be collected by the patient.Aptitudes: must be able to demonstrate

• KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED preferred. - Clinical knowledge of physiology and anatomy preferred. -Previous experience as a clinical phlebotomist -preferred. -EDUCATION: - Training in an accredited program of phlebotomy preferred. - College credit hours in clinically relevant education such as medical technology, anatomy, or patient care focused courses preferred. -LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: CPT certification preferredPandoLogic.
