position is responsible for administrative, fiscal management and
advanced technical work in directing the daily operations and
accomplishing the goals and objectives of the Montana Lottery. As
the Finance Director, you are responsible for completing projects
and requests from the Lottery Director and the Deputy Director. The
successful candidate will perform specialized professional level
accounting work to research, develop, and implement processes in
alignment with business needs, accounting principles, policy, rule,
and law. This position will also be involved with training,
internal risk assessments, and the implementation of internal
controls.This position prepares, reviews, and monitors SABHRS
financial reports and information for accuracy. The Finance
Director is responsible for reporting to the commission, public and
staff the financial status of the agency to ensure timely transfer
of beneficiary funds. Knowledge in SABHRS, Excel, and Word is
highly preferred as these are in constant use in this position.What
are we looking for?Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Four years of accounting experience.
- Current Montana CPA license as found at 37-50-302, MCA, if
applicable; Other specialty training may substitute for CPA.
- Advanced training, licensure, or certification associated with
accounting specialty.
- Required to maintain continuing education associated with
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the
Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- Other combinations of education or experience may be
substituted.
- Analyze and interpret data;
- Manage at minimum 3 FTEs;
- Establish and implement an agency's accounting policies,
internal controls, and procedures.
- Perform specialized accounting duties requiring advanced
training or licensure, such as forensic accounting duties,
statewide accounting responsibilities, or responsibility for
submitting and attesting to the ACFR;
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including
being responsible for providing financial information or testimony
to legislative committees and/or other public forums;
- Develop standards, controls and policies to safeguard data
integrity;
- Analyze, interpret and explain laws and rules related to the
agency;
- Perform management functions including hiring, firing,
performance management, discipline, work distribution, employee
development;
- Exercise judgement and discretion to establish and maintain
strong working relationships utilizing strong collaboration,
facilitation, and leadership skills;
- View the big picture during daily work, and projects;
- Delegate projects, as needed, to ensure multiple priorities are
met;
- Utilize all functionality of Microsoft Excel and be proficient
in other MS Office products; and
- Identify problems, emerging issues and trends, and establish
enterprise-wide strategies to address them.Only online applications
